Lately, I've been super busy on other projects and haven't spent as much time as I would have liked on Indi matters.

Well, the time is upon us and we're going to do something about the things people have been asking of us.

As you have undoubtedly noticed by now, the site looks a bit different. The changes I have implemented are just the beginning of a series of improvements in many areas of the site.

Mostly, the changes have been cosmetic so far. Many of the forums have been shuffled around to make navigating easier and more understandable.

These relatively small changes are clearing the path for us to begin implementing the more significant ones.

Here are the biggest changes that were made last night.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

--- The New Girls that come to the site will be visible to HR's and VIPs ONLY for the first few days of their time on Indi.


--- The SHOUT-BOX is accessible to the girls and paid members. It doesn't matter how many posts a guy has or how long he's been on Indi. Only HR's / VIPs / PREMIUM Members can shout.



--- A new VERIFIED User Group has been created. This will soon become "The talk of Indi". Soon I will unveil the details of of the INDIVERIFICATION SYSTEM. Guys AND Gals will be able to earn a VERIFIED title a few different ways. It's gonna be way cool. If you want some clues, there are some pieces of the new system already in place ... just look around.


--- The FRIENDS system is now limited to HR's / VIPs / PREMIUM Members


--- Viewing Profiles is now limited to HR's / VIPs / PREMIUM Members


--- Android Mobile Users will want to check out Indi on FORUM RUNNER LINK ... There is a FREE and a PAID version ... I am evaluating FORUM RUNNER and your feedback will be important ... They offer some cool benefits for everyone ... So far, I like it. The Android app gives me a clean, crisp interface. Everything fits nicely ... I haven't downloaded the $1.99 version yet ... Wanna see how well the free one handles ... There is an iPhone version but it takes longer to get listed ... Stay tuned.

For the past 13 years my business philosophy / model has always been to give you all as much free / fun / useful stuff as possible so that you'd stick around and eventually become a paying member.

Many of you will hail the changes I am making ... Others will rail against them.

The bottom line is that we can't keep on with "Business as Usual" ... You all made that clear in FO's poll.

The challenge for me is to find just the right balance of bringing in new features while simultaneously taking others away..

So basically if you want to use the Friends System, View Profiles, View New Talent or use the Shout Box.. Your forced to pay. Hmm.. Now i am not some kinda cheap charlie and i actually agree with most of the changes your trying to implement..and i have paid for memberships in the past.. but I think it was a bit inapropriate to throw this in effect with out a little heads up on what your intentions were.. I would have at least had an option were there was a minimum monthy charge say of $5-7 a month to be able to use the features that are now blocked... and still have the premium memberships available for discounted rates etc...But hey thats just my opinion.. your board you can do whatever you want.. Me personally... I will Pass and wish you the best of luck.. I am moving to the Philippines at the end of June anyway... I just bought a Showbar on Borgus Street in Makati and I am sure i will have my hands full implementing my own set of rules and flirting with cute filipino girls of course ;) Cheers... Miamipro

I'm a non-member who doesn't post in forums, but has benefitted from them to meet a handful of cool women on the board. From where I sit the main issues isn't what it would cost me, but the providers.
To wit:
1. Many require up front that references are sent via PM, a function now unavailable to non-members. A few women don't post a phone #, and only make initial contact via PM. Therefore non-members won't be able to contact some of the ladies.
2. Also, any woman who relies on PMs now will be able to meet no one who doesn't receive a cut rate. Some providers, understandably, don't post a #.
3. I don't know the percentage, Neil would, but I'd venture to guess 1/4 - and likely much more - of the business for women here comes from non-members. With the changes, that percentage will drop and providers now primarily will be seeing clients that receive a discount.
4. As a result, the rates of some providers might go up to offset this.

I had toyed with the idea of joining the site, but didn't use it enough to justify it in my mind. But given the changes, I plan to sign on and enjoy the savings, though ultimately at a cost to the providers that are the lifeblood of the board.

I might be wrong on all counts, and hope this post isn't completey misguided or overly harsh. I would rather have PM-ed these thoughts to Neil, but I can't use the PM function anymore.

I don't think you are correct. Neil did not say anything about PMs being changed. PMs are working for non paid members. You can't use shout box and ladies in waiting are not seen by reg members.

I've been a paid member and gave it up just like I'm most likely giving up this site all together what's the point? I can find agency girls on agency sites. You can still PM but it is a PITA now. If you click on your user name at the top right of the page and choose Personal Messenger; you'll be taken to your inbox from where you will see a Compose New button at top right.

I am curious about the PM restrictions. I didn't see any mention in Admin's summary of changes to inhibit PMs, IMHO PMs are a good tool to establish initial contact and get screening out of the way. Seem like it should be made available to the masses.

As far as profile viewing of the ladies, I am of the opinion the ideal is to delegate that choice to the individual lady. It would be great if she could choose her exposure:

Public - to everyone even someone who hasn't log on.
All Members - Everyone with a registered membership regardless of class.
All Paid Member - Every Premier, VIP or HR.
VIP and HR Only
All Verified Members
Friends Only - which means she would never have new friends LOL.
Invisible - Good to have when going on extended vacation or retirement, lights out, profile suppressed.
FO Only - Only juicy people like me can see it.

As a non HR or VIP I'll take what I can get. Its not about price for me, it's about my comfort zone on this forum.
Sure to get bashed by paying members but limiting access in anyway to a member is sure to hurt the ladies in the long run. Many more members then VIPS. We already pay more in the long run but I understand its business.

If you hover your mouse over the name of a poster in any thread, and let it idle for a split second, do you see a popup dialog with a "PM This Member" button? I see it but I don't know if you see a different form if you are a different member group.

I hope that this feature will still be available to all, as making sure someone actually is the member name they claim to be is a method many of us use as part of our screening process and for our safety.

I do not quite understand why only VIP/HR members will be able to view our profiles now. One of the benefits of our participation is for exposure...every post we make on the board is in essense an ad, as it shows our personality, thoughts, etc that we cannot fit into the ads we create. And so, if someone has in interest in us or a post we make, they can..well could easily just click on our name and bring up our profile to learn more an contact us. Im guessing that will no longer be a possibility? I know I dont aggressively post ads and not on the boards all the time, but with the participation I put in, I do get noticed, and I have the feeling that with these changes, that will drop off dramatically.

On the note of rates, Ive never complained or made an issue out of the VIP/HR rate, because well..I get a pretty even mixture of inquiries from both paid and non-paid members. So, the discount offered to VIP/HR members is sort of offset by the non-members who contact me. If non-members are unable to PM (if that is true) or view profiles..then their desire to use this site will go down. If that happens, and it turns out that the majority of the members who contact me are VIP/HR, then my rate here is basically becomes a flat $50 less than my given rate, with little to no offset and in essence, my cost of advertising here goes up.

That is something I am torn about, because this site is the most expensive site for me to advertise on. I do give a 25% discount for members of the verification sites Im on, though most dont take me up on it, and other than that, guys have no problems paying the rate that I put forth. So it is kind of a painful thought that on the most expensive place to advertise, I will be making less, and my exposure will be now be limited, so that I will be making even less. Weighing the pros and cons of that to myself here...

Now the one feature I absolutely do love is the Verified group...I think thats awesome...

Anyway, I do love the community and the people here...even if my business goes down and I end up not really being able to get as much benefit from this site as I have before, Id still come around because I learn quite a bit and hey, its entertaining here.

I see no reason why profiles should be for only VIPs/HR, seems like the gilrs will lose out...

You can still send PMs but you must now manually type in the person's name instead of click on the profile and clicking send message. I am sure this will cause a lot of confusion for new people on the board, and the non tech savy.

It would be helpful if everyone would remember that Neil said that things are changING, I am sure that many tweeks will be happening In fact I noticed that around 3 AM this morning the board was stalling quite a lot which usually indicates that it is being worked on. Also Neil mentioned a "PREMIUM MEMBER" category, I'm not sure if he was lumping HRs and VIPs into one category or there is a new category on the way, hopefully it will be some very low cost verified category which will give limited access to areas which are better off left restricted to anyone with a computer. It probably would be better if any member could send PMs easily since it is a good way for a lady to check out guys and give them a certain level of privacy. I would bet that the disappearance of the PM drop down to standard members was a side effect and not planned for, often when changes are made to SW one does not realize all that is effected. And as usual FO has a great idea of giving the ladies control of their profile access. Personally I have found little use for a lady's profile other than looking for her posts, the ad section has always proven MUCH more useful.

There are always bugs which need to be worked out with change, it is a process. Some will always complain when any part of their free lunch is taken away.

You can still send PMs but you must now manually type in the person's name instead of click on the profile and clicking send message.

Use your pointer to hi-lite the persons name and then press Ctrl and C at the same time, then click in the name area to send the PM and hit Ctrl and V at the same time, this will copy and paste the name of the person that you want to send a PM to.


P.S. NEIL!! I noticed that the indi app for the iPad was not free, just wanted to make you aware.

There's that whole, don't put your eggs in one basket thing...I do advertise in other places so Im not so much worried as I am hoping this doesn't change things for me on here too dramatically. I network quite a bit and do tell touring and new ladies about this site as the place to be for local business, and Ive noticed most of them have joined up. But if it turns out that this isnt even the place for me to be then well..you know lol

Anyway, I know how it is to try and make some changes and you cant please everyone.
And I understand the board has to generate more money somehow so the goal is to make this a paid site.

I dont like anyone telling me how to run my business...either they agree to my terms or they go elsewhere.

I am curious about the PM restrictions. I didn't see any mention in Admin's summary of changes to inhibit PMs, IMHO PMs are a good tool to establish initial contact and get screening out of the way. Seem like it should be made available to the masses.

As far as profile viewing of the ladies, I am of the opinion the ideal is to delegate that choice to the individual lady. It would be great if she could choose her exposure:

Public - to everyone even someone who hasn't log on.
All Members - Everyone with a registered membership regardless of class.
All Paid Member - Every Premier, VIP or HR.
VIP and HR Only
All Verified Members
Friends Only - which means she would never have new friends LOL.
Invisible - Good to have when going on extended vacation or retirement, lights out, profile suppressed.
FO Only - Only juicy people like me can see it.

Just to expand on the Profile Viewing topic a bit, I don't know how many of you are aware, if you go to edit your profile you see a "My Settings" page and the very last tab of that is a "Profile Privacy" setting. It allows you to use the default (which I guess is what Admin has changed) or restrict profile viewing only by "Friends". So there is already some degree of control at the user level on who is able to view one's profile. Seems to me with the new security, verified member group, paid member group etc...it makes sense to allow the ladies themselves to decide INDIVIDUALLY what the default should be. Let EVERYONE see her profile or let only certain groups.

The very first link that I see under my name, at the right upper part of the screen, is "My Profile".
It's curious that I don't have permission to see my own profile especially if the link is offered.
Other solution can be get to rid of that option, eliminate that link.
So, besides which door to knock, it's obvious that some fine tunning is needed yet.

OK so it looks like the way the PM restriction was implemented was via user interface manipulation and not execution level authentication.

My suggestion would be for the ladies who wish to make it easier for the guys who are not in the paid member group to PM them, add into your signature a direct link to PM you.

Here is what you as a lady can do step by step.

(1) Go to any forum and find any post and hover over the name of any user. Or any name in the shout box. Doesn't matter who. A pop up panel will appear, and you should see a "PM this member" button, right click you mouse to activate the pop up menu and select "Copy Link Location". This copies the link to PM this particular member into the clipboard. Let's say I happen to come across Doug in the shout box I hovered over his name and did that, as illustrated below.



(2) Open up a text editor or Notepad and paste the copied link into it. You should see something like this:



Let's look closer to the tail end of this link. The number at the end of the link is Doug's member number. You can basically substitute this number with any member's number and use this link to send PMs.



(3) Now since you are the lady creating a "PM me" link for other members, all you need to do is to find your own member number, substitute it into that link, and put that link into your signature. To do that, you to any of your own post or in shout, hover over your name, wait for the pop up panel to appear, right mouse click on "Find Content", and from the pop up menu select "Copy Link Location", as illustrated below.



(4) Paste the link into a text editor or Notepad and you should see something like this.



Now you see the number at the end? In this case I hovered over my own name, and hence my member number is 44.

(5) Now go back to the link you had in step 2, and replace that number at the end with your own member number.



(6) Now you should have a link you can paste into your signature, when other members see any of your posts or ads they can simply click on it to PM you.

(7) To make it even nicer you can use a link



It sounds a bit convoluted but it's actually fairly simple. May be there is an more straight forward way not sure. Well hope this helps a little bit.

This is what guys see when through our participation on the board, they become interested and wish to view our profile to learn more.

So...thats the nice thing about profiles...at least for those of us who have taken the time and effort to fill ours out...there are guys who really do read them to find out more about us.

Thank you BelovedNicole. That's exactly why I look at profiles. Additional information, direct links to ads and gallery and if one lady seems interesting I put her on my friends list for later reference. For somebody like me this site was great, because we could have our little black book for the rare occasion and didn't cost us. Well of course the lady needs her donation, but the site was free. I didn't have the feeling that greed was the driving factor here on this site. I was totally fine with restrictions such as only 3 posts. I understand that some features are premium, but now this site becomes like all other sites. But that's just my humble opinion.

There are a number of things in the profile that may be useful.

Sometimes a girl put the phone number in the ad, but may have a private email in her profile which is useful if you want to continue a conversation that started on the PM but didn't want to continue on the PM.

I bet half the people go to a profile in order to PM someone. You didn't have to but many still do.

It allows you to view who her friends are, and from there you get a sense if she may be a "trouble maker" or "drama queen" or not.

It let's you see all her gallery folders in one place.

I enjoy meeting new ladies and I have on many instances, spotted things about these new LIW and reported it...........
It is a 2 ways street......... we get the benefit of trying out the new ladies for a few days before the non-paying members........... and part 2........ you benefit from us double checking the ladies information.......... are the pics real,,,, Google the numbers...... see if the HR/VIP discounts are where they should be........
If not...... we report it and you or who ever, corrects it.............
What happens when you report things....... at least 2 times............ and it isn't addressed???????

These last 2 LIW.... did not post the HR/VIP rates..... I reported it yesterday, today...... no changes made and they are cuting into the HR/VIP "TIME' to see new LIW before the rest of the masses..........
Is there a magical number of times we need to report, before the "system" reads the report??????

I also don't know if Neil would mind or not, but what about the ladies on here? Well, that's not really true. Neil's main source of income from the site, based on what he's said in the past, is the advertisers at the top. The rate he can charge for that is based on the number of page views the site gets, as ranked by services like Alexa. Neil has in the past, on occasion, made a point of how highly ranked Indy is. The bulk of the page views are in the ad forums - Neil has pointed that out any number of times (usually when he's thinking of killing off General Discussion, and wants the posters to know they're only a small part of the big picture). And I'm going to guess that the bulk of the viewers of the ads are not paying members, but rather are folk who just view the ads and don't otherwise participate here.

So, anyone who adds to the site's total page views is ultimately contributing to Neil's income.

The number of lurkers Significantly out weighs and out numbers the active guys posting reviews by FAR!
Non-paying members, lurkers (guys that don't even have an account) are still able to view the ads just like they have Always have been able to do.
The only thing that had changed is they now can't send a pm from the ladies profile page which is the easiest way to do it.
There is always a portion of the population that will whine and cry about anything
If pming from the profile page is so important to them then they will pay the stinking $50 (oh boy 50 dollars)
If not it really isn't important to them they wont or they don't have $50 expendable income and
If that's the case Neil is doing the girls a favor by getting rid of the time wasters and tire kickers
